1750 - Thomas & Ann referred to in deeds for Shattrick's
Thomas appeared in the Juror's lists of 1748 as a yarnwasher
On the 26th of December 1755 the overseers accounts at Broadway had this to say ;
' It was agreed at a meeting at the vestry then ( ? ) held that notice be given to Mr. Isaac Standerwick , Mr. Joseph Broome and to Mrs. Ann Gawler , widow , that they pay the respective sums of money ? are in their lands belonging to the parish of Broadway to the overseers of the poor at Easter next . OVERSEERS;- W. Fewtrell , Wm. Standerwick , Jacob Hayes and Thos. Hayes . '
The widow Ann Gawler payed the poor relief rates to the church from the 24th of March 1757 until April 1760 , after that the name appears as just Ann Gawler ( Could this change mean it was her daughter who was paying poor relief from 1760 ?)
Extract from Broadway overseers accounts ;
12th of April 1762 ;
' Whereas notice hath been given by order of the vestry this day to Mr. Isaac Standerwick , Mr. Joseph Broome & Ann Gawler widow to pay the respective sums of money wich ( ? ) are in their hands ( ? ) belonging to the Parish of Broadway to the overseers of the poor of the said parish for the time being . It is hereby agreed & ordered that if the several sums be not paid before Midsummer day next . The overseers of the poor to prosecute the said Isaac Standerwicke , Joseph Broome & Ann Gawler for the same at the expense of the parish .'
4th April 1768 :-
' ? of M? Ann Gawler few pounds of the parish money which ? to pay ? churchwardens or overseers on demand (?) . ' Witnessed by Jacob Hayes , Wm. Standerwick , Robert Lockyer
